Pushkin,
First off, welcome to the single best Drummer-oriented website/community in cyberville!

Octobans...hmmm. I can't help you there.  Due to their generally narrow diameter, they are generally made from acrylic, fiberglass or metal.  I suppose they can be made from standard ply-type shells also.  But I have never made any, nor even inspected some up close. Any one want to help me out here?

I know this does not help much, but I suspect that if you can get some small diameter/long length keller-type shells from Drummaker.com or other on-line supplier, along with lugs, heads and rims, you would be well on your way.

Cheers, Bob

I'd probably by some 6" PVC and cut it into lengths and fit with lugs and mounting hardware.

Make sure that the PVC is 6" OD (outside diameter).

I owned a set and if they were made of PVC, then they just had a really strange coating/finish on them because it was a very rough that honestly felt like some strange futuristic combination of metal and plastic...
PVC would still probably sound really awesome anyway though.

Back in the 80's there was another company making these called Dragon Drums.  the only real difference is that theirs wre cut at an angle at the open end.
