Broke and Busted- awesome rock song
« on: January 26, 2009, 02:23 PM »
Being Broke and Busted sucks but everyone in cleveland pretty much is.

Here is a song me and my band wrote.  It's great (it is what it is) and should be heard cause it's the real thing.

Spread it around if you want.  My drumming of course is of course authentic since I am a drummer from cleveland which is the rock and roll capital of the world  ::)

Oh and I used James Walker's 5.5 tempus snare drum on this.  Has a wonderfully thin and hungry sound does it not?   >:(  :)

Toms sounded nice and open too

I'm an old Grand Funk fan. I thought the same thing when I heard it.
Good stuff! Good old rock.  ;)

Just catching up to this.

Definitely Grand Funky.  But a modern version.

Love the guitar tone.

If you were playing in my region - I'm there every gig.

Hi Frank.  Thanks for putting your stamp on my thread.

We have a new singer now whom has phenomenal tone so we have been working him in (I've known him a very long time and we are close).  Subsequently, I have not played out in months but we just landed a gig in March at a nice club here in town.  So we are all very stoked about that as you can imagine!

Hopefully all my bar hopping seeing different bands and "diligent" practice is going to kick our sets up a notch.  Rock bands are so hard to keep together but we are all very close friends whom have went to school and have played together along time... so it's the real thing and not like a mish mash of hired guns.

I'm sure it is going to be an awesome gig and when we play that song we stretch it a bit and have a super cool ending.  People like it.  Should be alot of friends there too.  Hopefully the weather will cooperate  ::)

Not bad. Good music. I think the vocals need cleared up. Too much FX. The vocals need to stand out more. Also the guitar(s) need to be a little lower in the mix for the first section of vocals.

Just MHO,

It's not supposed to sound great- at all.  My Mp3 conversion software is not good either just to defend myself.  And if it sounded great it would totally defeat the purpose of what we are.

Subsequently, we play even live with a fair amount of delay and verb.

But thanks for listening.

So you don't have to come to the gigs OK LOL.

Just picked up two more gigs for April... yaay!

Dang, I wish I lived close enough to drop in when you play.  That is my kind of listening.
No one will believe it's the "Blues" if you wear a suit, 'less you happen to be an old person, and you slept in it last night!

...from cleveland which is the rock and roll capital of the world  ::)

Great song. It's a shame, though, that you overreached with your breathless proclamation above. How does a city, the first city in the world to have a RIVER catch fire, by the way...how does such a city suddenly go from "Cleveland - Gateway to North Olmsted" to "Cleveland - Rock & Roll Capital of the World?

I'll tell you how...it doesn't, that's how.

But great song.

There is an amazing amount of rock bands here and tons of places to see them.  I'm not kidding.  And there are tons of places to see bands in North Olmstead (west side) area.  Do you get out at all in this town at all?  My friend lives in fairview park and is extremely busy gigging right now.

It is the rock n roll capital of the world and I did not make that proclamation.  But I'm not sure who did.  ::)   The phrase "rock n roll" was definitely coined here and yes we have the rock hall of fame *which was cool till they inducted madonna last year*.

The guys here really take it seriously is all I can tell you.  And the scene is getting busy!  It's great.  Bands are getting more dough now too.

Whatever.   I don't know you or your scene or ever heard you play.  But from Geneva to Toledo, along the lake there are bazillions of places to play and hear rock bands.  It's the north coast basically.  I think it's one of the few cool things about this area.

Felix, I'm from Erie, like I mentioned to you before. That's why I make Cleveland jokes. Don't take it so seriously.

I thought you lived in S.C.?

Don't bait me then tell me not to take things "seriously".  By all accounts you were being serious... I didn't see no smiley faces in your post to me.

I thought I answered your question succinctly and politely.

I really hate it when people want a discussion with me then after I give them a reply they don't like (for whatever reason) they tell me to relax or not take things "seriously".

What did you want me to say?  "Yes Danno, you are the man, you are absolutely correct, I don't have a clue wtf I'm talking about- I must have been on drugs when I  started this thread.  There is only one place to play in cleveland and it's a jazz club.  Sorry my bad."

Is that more to your liking?  I'm a pistol at heart dude- not a toy.
