Back in the Studio - been soooo long!
« on: February 23, 2009, 04:06 PM »
Its been a few years since I got a chance to record anything new that I've got to be apart of the creation process.  My band, BearsOmy!, is currently finishing up our demo EP.   I took pics and put them up on my flickr site here:

Just want to point out a few things also... JOKERJKNY is playing bass, and killin' it on bass also!  He and I met up on DC years ago and now play w/ each other all the time.

Secondly, I'm using a Gretsch Catalina kit, TAMA Warlord snare, & SOULTONE cymbals. I love these Soultones. I met the guys at NAMM, and my buddy got endorsed by them so we tried them out to record the demo. They sound great!

We tracked in a old nyc church, but w/ the help of our drummer/engineer friend, Robin (who also engineers for Dream Theater), he's making us sound like 'awesome in a can'.  Still tracking vocals, but hope to have some clips up soon.  ;D

Till then, here's a video of a show we did in the W. Village:

Nice!  Keep us posted!

And tell that Joker he needs to stop by again.  It's been years!

...

Yup - the Gretsch Catalinas are the best kept secret in drumming
these days.    Amazing kits for the price.

Gretsch - why aren't you seeking me for an endorsement?  :)
Oh, yeah, I forgot, it's because:
- I suck
- No one knows who I am
- My largest gig on drums in adulthood has been - about the size
of a well attended toddler bowling birthday party.

Ok, sorry about that.

I have to make a correction, Frank.  It was actually the Gretsch USA Custom kit, not the Catalina.

Regardless, the kit sounded great and I'd totally play on it again.

Hoping to land some gigs w/ these recordings so I'll keep the cafe informed if/when we can play out again. :)

cheers!
