Los Angeles ... here I come
« on: September 17, 2010, 10:22 AM »
Actually that's Los Angeles, CHILE!

I don't post many of my gigs on the forum, but this is special. A little over a week ago I got a call for a gig in Chile that will take place the first week of December. One cool thing is that it won't be chilly in Chile this time of year.  ;)

The gig, December 2, 3 & 4, is with Alberto & Kimberly Rivera; one of my favorite groups to work with. I get to use a hybrid percussion/drum set-up and the music is 100% improvised. For this particular gig it's just piano/keyboard, vocals and me. There's usually a "utility" player who can play just about every stringed instrument on the planet. The pianist is incredible, a master musician, who can play anything - any style.

I'm really looking forward to this gig!

Time to start brushing up on my Spanish.

Fantastic man.

Although I must say that I was at first hyped by the heading to think you were coming out here to NORTHERN Los Angeles.  ;D
We would'a had to hang.

Have a great gig.

I will once I get there, since my set-up is different every time I play.

Sweet Bart,
Sounds like a great trip and great music. Time to let everything else go and live in the moment as a musician -- hope you have a ball & that we get to hear some of it!

I'll be leaving next Tuesday for sunny Chile; staying for almost a full week.

Still working out my set-up. A drumset and large hand drums will be provided. I'll definitely bring a suitcase full of percussion toys, and it's looking like I'll take my HandSonic as well.

Now I've just got to find some time to get my Spanish happening; it's been so long since I've had to speak the language.

You'll work hard on the language. Then you'll go there and hear everyone speaking English.  ;D

Despite Eric Sooy's believe, this wasn't me in Santiago, Chile last week.
