Roland spd-sx
« on: August 19, 2012, 10:48 AM »
I recently purchased a Roland spd-sx. I am having difficulties finding compatible .wav files to import to the spd-sx. I don't want to be stuck using only preloaded sounds. If anyone could help out with this topic I would really appreciate it. Thanks

When you say "finding compatible .WAV files" do you mean free sound files or our sound file packages that you can purchase?

You should be able to purchase any sound library that comes with .WAV files. If .WAV is not available, you can take just about any other sound file and convert it into .WAV using your home computer (and necessary software).

There are tons of free places to get sound files. It's just when I try to drag and drop the .wav file over to the wave manager (the software that comes with the spd-sx) it says it's not compatible. The Roland says it uses 32 and 64 bit .wav files. I've tried searching specifically for 32 bit .wav files. When trying to drag and drop those the same thing happens. Not compatible.

The free WAV files may not be compatible because they have a lower bit-rate, or have header info present/missing.

If you purchase the WAV files or make them yourself, you won't have any problems. Bootleg or illegally copied WAV files may or may not work.

What kind of sounds are you looking for?

I'm looking for dirty industrial sounds. Bass drops. Movie quotes dark ambient noises. Anything is fair game.

If you have samples that aren't compatible, you can use the open source program  http://audacity.sourceforge.net]Audacity  to convert them to correct format.

Looking For Samples
« Reply #7 on: October 08, 2012, 12:31 AM »
Does any one know of a good place to find some samples free or cheap? Im looking for some pretty basic things like bass drops and that snare echo sound you hear in a lot of dub music. Im also interested in finding something where I can create my own samples. I am new to the electronic scene so any information will be appreciated. I recently purchased a roland spd-sx and am looking for sounds that aren't pre programmed. I am interested in all information on this subject. Thanks!

Someone else might know better resources, but check out  http://www.audiosparx.com/]http://www.audiosparx.com/
I haven't yet bought anything from there, but the previews seem promising.
