I have been rehearsing for a Recreation of the film The Last Waltz by the Band with an all Dayton core band and all Dayton musicians recreating the guests' parts. Its been loads of fun, lots of challenges, and a whole new appreciation for the artistry of the late great Levon Helm, I'm singing some back up but no leads, I think some of the grooves are way to unique and crucial to worry about singing too, I'm no Levon. :(

I've never really played with a horn section this big, and it has its own set of challenges, particularly horn players that need every measure written out and are counting measures of rests as well as beats of rests across single measures, regardless of what's going on on stage.
I'm finding there are many different versions of songs out there between the film, the recorded album and YouTube. I'd never heard this version of Don't Do It before, it's much longer than the film. What a cool groove.

Photos from Such a Night: The Last Waltz Live in Dayton, Ohio on Feb 24th. We raised over 23,000 meals for Foodbank Dayton. That's over 500 meals per band member!
