my ATTEMPT at a multiple location drum video
« on: January 03, 2014, 09:45 PM »
Hey guys heres a little groove I came up with and used to record in a few different locations. Its an experiment to try and have the drumming flow as smoothly as possible.
Let me know what you think!!

Yes, I've seen these types of videos before ... playing drums in multiple locations. I'm sure it's a lot of fun, but also a lot of hard work.  ;D

Playing wise, I thought you had a nice sounding and feeling groove going on ... until 00:58 when you started to embellish and fill more. From 00:58 until the end of the video you lost your "pocket" ... which you had up until that point.

I agree with Bart. You had a good groove going, but the fill didn't fit the groove.  ;)

I agree with the groove being lost. linear fills can be cool but you need to know where to use them. I was nodding my head up till that point.

One cool thing was how the kit sounds different in each location. I'd love to spend a day (Year) micing my kit in different rooms just to test how it sounds in each.
