Really digging this Maroon 5 cd:
Solid, melodic, syncopated-simplicity; it knows how to breathe.  8)

Today took out the Fat boys and put in Muddy Waters!
No one will believe it's the "Blues" if you wear a suit, 'less you happen to be an old person, and you slept in it last night!

Since the last time I posted on this thread, I've been listening to a lot of The Police and Steely Dan. Lot of great drumming, lots of great songs.

Today took out the Fat boys and put in Muddy Waters!

lmao!  lou, you cease to amaze me...  ;D

but just came back from Tower, and picked up:

Joni Mitchell: Misses  :)
a study in the genius of her lesser known yet influential songs.

Gavin DeGraw: Chariot  :-\
was hoping alot from this guy, and his first few cuts sound pretty dam exhilirating, but the last few songs sorta fall into soul rehash, and his great voice is waaaaaaaay too compressed.  still, amazing new talent from Clive "I discovered Whitney, Bruce, Santana" Davis.

The Brothers Johnson: Strawberry Letter 23, the Very Best of  8)

Again, another eclectic weekend of musical listening for me.  I listened to some Pantera, some Phish, a lot of Miles Davis and some Alien Ant Farm.
The techniques, though they play an important role in the early stage, should not be too restrictive, complex or mechanical. If we cling to them, we will become bound by their limitation.  Any technique, however worthy and desirable, becomes a disease when the mind is obsessed with it.
