GIANT HOLES IN A SNARE!
« on: December 09, 2003, 08:24 AM »
I was watching MTV the other night.  They had on an album launch for Blink-182's new CD, and the drummer was shown playing on his set.  He showed us his snare which had a large (pro'ly about 3 in.) hole in the shell.  He considered it as a vent, but I had never seen a snare with a vent that big before.  Apparently it makes the drum louder.  Do any of you know?

Check out OCDP's (Orange County Drum and Percussion) site.   They are the main force behind this recent trend with vented snares and have info on what they believe it offers a drum.   And yeah, a drier louder sound is pretty much it.
