Topper Headon, born Nicholas Bowen Headon on May 30, 1955 in Bromley, Kent, England, is an English drummer best known for his drumming with the punk rock band, The Clash (1977-1982).

As the original drummer for The Clash, Headon is highly regarded for his precision and skill on the drumkit, as well as being one of the most inspirational and technically inventive punk rock drummers of the late '70s and early '80s.

In 1982, Headon was sacked just before the release of The Clash's fifth album, Combat Rock, due to his heroin addiction which was damaging his health and drumming.

As a drummer / percussionist and songwriter who is known to play some bass guitar and piano (occasionally), Topper Headon is featured on several other artists' albums and released some of his own solo artist recordings back in the '80s. His solo work includes one studio album, Waking Up (1986), one EP (1985), and several singles, "Drumming Man / Hope For Donna" and "Drumming Man / Ducaine Road" — both released in 1985.

Headon adopted the name "Topper" due to his resemblance to a character, Mickey the Monkey, from the UK comic strip, The Topper (1953-1990).

On November 16, 1987, Topper Headon was jailed for 15 months at Maidstone Crown Court, England for supplying heroin to a man who later died.
