Mitch Mitchell

Mitch Mitchell, born John Ronald Mitchell on July 9, 1946 in Ealing, London, England, was an British drummer, best known for his work with The Jimi Hendrix Experience.

In 1966, while working with Georgie Fame & the Blue Flames, Mitchell was invited to audition for a new band being formed to back Jimi Hendrix. During the 70's Mitchell failed an audition for Paul McCartney's new band, Wings.

Mitch Mitchell died in his sleep on November 12, 2008 in Portland, OR, just five days after he completed the Experience Hendrix Tour — an 18-city tour in the US.
