Clem Burke

Clem Burke, born Clement Burke on November 24, 1955 in Bayonne, New Jersey, is an American drummer, best known for his work with the band, Blondie.

Clem joined Blondie in 1975 and remained with the group until it disbanded in 1982. He later rejoined Blondie with the original five-piece group reformed in 1997.

Throughout the 1980s and 90s, Clem has worked with such artists and groups as The Romantics, Pete Townshend, Bob Dylan, Eurythmics, Dramarama, The Fleshtones, Iggy Pop, Joan Jett, The Ramones, Wanda Jackson, and Nancy Sinatra.

Burke was inducted in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2006.

In July 2011, Clem Burke received an honorary doctorate from the University of Gloucestershire for his efforts with The Clem Burke Project — pursuing knowledge through the application of scientific principles to the various art forms of drumming.
