Lewis Nash

Lewis Nash, born on December 30, 1958 in Phoenix, Arizona, is an American jazz drummer best known for his adaptability to a vast array of genres, as evidenced by his performances with such different musicians as Tommy Flanagan, Melissa Manchester, Diana Krall, George Michael and Wynton Marsalis.

For his rich jazz discography, having played on over 400 jazz records, Modern Drummer magazine (May 2009) named Lewis Nash the jazz music genre's "Most Valuable Player."

On April 11, 2012, Jazz in Arizona opened The Nash, a new jazz education and performance venue honoring the jazz luminary and Phoenix native, Lewis Nash — "perhaps the most talented drummer of his generation," according to the Biographical Encyclopedia of Jazz.
