Johny Barbata

Johny Barbata, born John Barbata on April 1, 1945 in Passaic, New Jersey, is best known as the drummer for the Turtles (f/k/a Tyrtles).

Barbata was already an established session musician when he joined the Turtles in 1966, replacing original drummer Don Murray (and his temporary replacement, Joel Larson).

Throughout the 60s, 70s, 80s, and 90s, Barbata has worked with the likes of The Turtles; Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young; Steven Stills, and Neil Young, as well as Jefferson Airplane, and Jefferson Starship. His drumming credits can be heard on some 20-hit singles and more than 100 albums.

In 2007, Johny released his autobiography, Johny Barbata: The Legendary Life of a Rock Star Drummer.
