North American Launch of CORE DRUMS—Korea’s First Custom/Full-Line Drum Company— Scheduled For NAMM 2013

In an era when major South Korean consumer goods companies such as Hyundai, Kia, Samsung and LG—along with top Korean-based musical instrument manufacturers such as Young Chang and others— are staking their claims as world leaders in quality and innovation, internationally-respected Korean drum artist and businessman BongJo Lee has launched Core Drums, Korea’s first, full-line drum company. The new drum company, which is the culmination of 5 years of research and development and which exhibited at the Shanghai and Frankfurt Music Fairs in 2012, will make its North American debut at the NAMM Show in Anaheim, California, January 24-27, 2013, booth #D2678.

"Our name represents the original English spelling of our country (‘Corea’) as well as our commitment to advancing the art of drum building," Mr. Lee explains. "However, the word ‘core’ also has a deeper meaning for every drummer because we know that rhythm is the heart of all music."

Mr. Lee and his long-established music business, Drum-Net, have designed Core Drums’ multiple drum lines from the ground up at their Seoul, Korea headquarters using both traditional and newly developed drum-crafting technologies. Although the Core Drums catalog features no less than eight different series of drums, the “Apex” and “Bedazzle” series stand out as the progressive company’s most unique and impressive offerings.

“Bedazzle” drumkits are custom-shop-quality drums; made using hand-selected North American maple shells with reinforcing hoops and available in more than 10,000 different high-gloss lacquer finish, hardware, drum size and kit configuration combinations. The spectacular “Apex” series drumsets, on the other hand, incorporate a choice of clear or colored acrylic shells with laser-etched graphics and Core’s exclusive “Xyzzy” LED internal lighting and control module to create a limitless variety of tonal and visual effects.

Core Drums’ additional drum lines “Collision”, “Destiny”, “Echo”, “Frontier” and “Glare” fill drummers’ and dealers’ needs for high-quality entry-level and midrange instruments while the company intends to introduce a wide selection of pedals, hardware, world percussion and accessories in the coming months.
