Manuel Leuenberger Until 2005, Manuel Leuenberger did not know about an instrument called "marimba."

But when he saw and heard the marimba for the first time, knowing about the technique of percussion instruments and the keys and melodies of the piano, it was immediately clear to him that this would be the perfect combination to express his musicality. His passion was born.

Only one year later, in 2006, he played his first marimba solo concerto with orchestra and won a first prize with distinction at the 31st Swiss Youth Music Competition.

In the summer of 2010, he graduated from the ZHdK (Zurich High School of Arts) where he studied orchestral percussion, marimba and vibraphone with Horst Hofmann, Thomas Dobler, and Rainer Seegers.

He is a laureate of the Frield-Wald foundation in Switzerland and is endorsed by Marimba One, the Arcata, CA-based premier maker of concert marimbas. "I cannot live without my marimba one!" exclaims the young percussionist. In early 2012, he received a full scholarship from the Frost School of Music at the University of Miami for his master studies with bulgarian virtuoso Svet Stoyanov.
