Adam Nussbaum

Adam Nussbaum, born November 29, 1955 in Norwalk, Connecticut, is an American jazz musician who started playing the drums at age 12 after studying piano for five years. He also spent some time playing the bass and saxophone as a teenager.

Adam has worked with the likes of Albert Dailey, Monty Waters, Joe Lee Wilson, Sheila Jordan, Sonny Rollins, Dave Liebman, John Scofield, Steve Swallow, Gil Evans, Stan Getz, Eliane Elias, Randy Brecker, Gary Burton, Michael Brecker, Carla Bley, John Abercrombie, and many others.

In 1988, Adam received a Grammy for his work on Michael Brecker's album, "Don't Try This At Home."

In 2007, Adam Nussbaum came up with a DVD idea — The Art of Playing with Brushes — which features living legends Billy Hart, Eddie Locke, Joe Morello, Charli Persip and Ben Riley, as well as Nussbaum and modern brush master Steve Smith, each demonstrating and discussing their distinctive drumming styles while performing the same set of medium to up-tempo swing, ballads and Latin tunes to compare and contrast their unique approaches and interpretations.

Nussbaum has taught as an adjunct professor at New York University, the New School and State University of New York at Purchase, and continues to give clinics and master classes around the world.
